At Hershey Free Church, we hope that you become people of prayer, not just people who pray. To that end, we want to embed prayer as a significant rhythm in all our ministry areas. We aim to create environments for children, students, and adults to engage in meaningful prayer that leads to a deeper transformational relationship with God and others.
We believe prayer makes a difference. We want to be praying with you and for you. We have several corporate prayer opportunities. You are invited to join us anytime.

What is prayer? “Prayer is conversation with God about mutual concerns.” (Dallas Willard) This simple definition provides the context for prayer. Like talking with a friend in a give-and-take conversation, prayer includes both speaking to and listening to God. Just like one-sided conversations with friends don’t generally create deeper relationships, having only one-sided conversations can often feel like something is missing.
Scripture instructs us to make our requests known to God, which means praying about things that matter to us. It also tells us to be still and listen so that we can become aware of the things that matter to God.

Listening Prayer
Listening Prayer is a place for individuals to sit with another person who listens to the Spirit on their behalf. It is a time when someone else in the body of Christ prays for you and encourages your soul as they speak words of blessing. It is a way of putting the words of Colossians 3:15-16 into action. We have trained teams that are available to pray for you. Listening Prayer may not be familiar to you, so check out this brochure that gives a more detailed explanation. Deb Hinkel describes listening prayer in this video.
Listening Prayer Dates: Evenings on November 11 & 20 and December 9 & 18. Sign-up for a date and time.
Prayer Room: Sanctuary Wing - Room 35
Did we know we have a prayer room? This space is dedicated to prayer and quiet reflection and is open anytime the church is open. Quarterly, we will provide a prayer station or rhythm allowing you to try something new and spend intentional time with Jesus.
The prayer station this fall is praying in color. Praying in color provides the space to draw or journal your thoughts about a particular concern or a passage of scripture. It’s okay if you aren’t familiar with praying in color. We invite you to stop in and give it a try.
